Diego Costa played a vital role by scoring a late goal to hand Chelsea 2-1 comeback victory over Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Etienne Capoue put Watford ahead after 55 minutes with his second goal of the season, but Michy Batshuayi equalised in the 80th minute with his first goal for Chelsea, six minutes after coming off the bench, thanks to an error by Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.

However, Spain striker Diego Costa won the match with three minutes to go at Vicarage Road after a fine pass from substitute Cesc Fabregas.

The 27-year-old striker played a vital role for Chelsea, getting one shot at goal and scored, which proved to be the winning goal as his side claimed all three points.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match stats, Diego Costa managed to complete 36 touches on the ball after spending 90 minutes on the field.

The Spanish international completed a total of 13 out of 18 passes for his side, with 55.6% coming from the back and 33.3% coming from the right, while 11.1% of his distribution came from the left side.

In defence, Costa won three out of 15 duels while winning three fouls for the Blues and conceding two.

Chelsea controlled the match and had the best possession (62.4%), while Watford could only manage 37.6% of the possession.

Meanwhile, The Blues had more shots on goal than the Hornets, producing 13 chances at goal compared to 6 efforts respectively.

Chelsea will now welcome Burnley to Stamford Bridge, while Watford will play Arsenal at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Kick-off has been set for 16:00.
