Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Granit Xhaka will make the Gunners midfield stronger than ever this season.

The 23-year-old will now link up with his new teammates in training at London Colney this week after recovering from his exertions at Euro 2016.

The 66-year-old insists that Xhaka has a lot to offer the club in midfield after releasing Thomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta.

‘[Xhaka brings] his passing ability to play through the lines from deep positions, his work rate, and he’s good in the air,’ Wenger told the Arsenal website.

‘He’s a young boy as well, 23 years old. There’s a lot to come from him. We lost three midfielders: Flamini, Rosicky, and Arteta, and numbers-wise we are quite solid in midfield now.

The French manager continued to say that Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny has already made a big impact, since joining the club fromSwiss Super League side Basel during the January transfer market.

‘Elneny had a big impact when he came here, Coquelin was injured for a long time and is back. Cazorla will come back, Wilshere is back… so we are solid in midfield,’ the manager added.
