Emanuele Giaccherini scored the opening goal during Italy’s 2-0 victory over Belgium in their Group E opener in the Euro 2016.

Giaccherini, who plays for Serie A club Bologna, got his goal in the 32nd as he collected a ball from Leonardo Bonucci powering the ball past Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois into the back of the net.

The 31-year-old goal along with Graziano Pelle’s stoppage time winner, moved Italy to the top of Group E, with three points.

The on-loan Sunderland midfielder first chance of the match came with the opening goal, before Pelle made it 2-0 during injury time, winning two out of six duels.

With 56 touches during his 90 minutes of play, Giaccherini managed to complete 26 of his 32 passes, while one of his two shots were on target, according to SASoccermag’s Opts powered match centre.

Giaccherini was also effective at linking up the play with 56.3% of his attacks coming from down the right, meanwhile, complete one of his three crosses.

He also successfully executed two clearances, while winning one out of two tackles and completing one interception.

For his performance against Belgium Giaccherini was awarded the man-of-the-match award.
