Manchester United legend and current assistant coach Ryan Giggs is believed to be on the verge of taking his leave from the club in the coming days.
The 42-year-old is reportedly eager to gain experience away from Old Trafford, which will cause him to decline an offer to work under new Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho, reports Independent.
A likely factor in the decision is Mourinho reportedly bringing his own backroom staff to the club, which could see Giggs demoted from his current position as assistant.
Giggs has been in the role since the David Moyes era at the club, while he continued in the post under previous manager Louis van Gaal. But having missed out on the opportunity to take over the reins at the club following Van Gaal’s exit, Giggs has reportedly opted to look to further his managerial career elsewhere.
Giggs’ departure will bring to an end a 28-year association with the club, with whom Welshman spent the entirety of his playing career.
A speedy winger turned central midfielder, Giggs helped United to 13 of its 20 Premier League titles as a player.
