Griezmann inspires French win

Antoine Griezmann was the hero for France as his side spectacularly held off Germany to progress to the Euro 2016 final by a 2-0 scoreline.

Although Germany dominated possession they created few chances more than their French counterparts.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match stats, Germany managed 68 percent of the possession by the end of the match, while they also had 18 shots to France’s 16.

But it was France who took their chances, with both goals coming from Griezmann.

The 24-year-old was a livewire for France playing in a central role behind Olivier Giroud and he caused the Germans all sorts of problems with his movement, pace and skill.

The forward managed 58 touches in the match while he fired off seven shots with four on target. His first goal came from the penalty spot following a handball, whereas his second was a poacher’s finish following a sloppy clearance by Germany.

Griezmann also completed 25 of his 32 passes on the night.
