Griezmann proved pivotal in France win

Antoine Griezmann proved to be pivotal in attack for France after scoring a brace against the Republic of Ireland to send Les Bleus into the Euro 2016 quarter-finals.

With France progressing into the quarter-finals, the Atletico Madird forward proved to be the difference, which earned him man-of-the-mach honours in Lyon.

The 25-year-old was brilliant in attack for France, managing to complete a total of 88 touches on the ball after spending 90 minutes on the field.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match stats, Antoine Griezmann completed a 49 out of 60 passes, with 33.3% coming from down the centre while 26.7% coming from down the left.

In attack Griezmann produced eight shots at goal, with five on target, six from inside the box and two from outside the box. He scored two goals in the space of four minutes and ultimately leading France to victory.

Defensively the former Real Sociedad forward won a total of eight out of 10 duels

France controlled the match and had the best possession (67.4%), while the Irish side could only managed 32.6% of possession. Meanwhile, the French side managed 25 shots at goal, while the Republic of Ireland could only managed six.

The result means that France advance into the quarter-finals, while the Republic of Ireland have been eliminated from the Round of 16.
