Guardiola open to working with Toure?

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has promised to give every player a chance to prove themselves at the Etihad which could see Yaya Toure remain in Manchester.

The Spaniard was officially unveiled as the new manager of Manchester City in front of  tens of thousands of supporters at the City Football Academy on Sunday.

His comments suggested he is ready to work with Toure following intense speculation over the Ivorian’s future since the new manager’s appointment in February, according to Manchester Evening.

Players like Samir Nasri and Eliaquim Mangala could also be offered a lifeline, despite underperforming during the 2015-16 season.

The 45-year-old manager revealed that his new squad will have to prove themselves worthy of being in the team, not only to him but to the fans as well.

‘I played against City in the last two or three years many times,’ Guardiola said.

‘I know them – I know their quality, but they have to show me, show the fans again.’

Guardiola says that just like every manager has their views, he has his own football philosophies that he would like to implement at City.

‘Every manager in the world wants to improve their players,’ he added.

‘I work like all the managers in the world. I have my point of view, my way to do my job.’

The former Bayern coach insists that he need time to create a cohesiveness spirit within the team.

‘I need time, but as soon as possible we are going to try to create team spirit,’ the manager said.

‘That is the most important thing. After you can create tactics, but we have to create something special with ourselves.’

The former Barcelona manager has already completed the signings of Ilkay Gundogan and Nolito for a combined fee of around £35m since his arriving at the Etihad.

Guardiola has already added John Stones and Schalke winger Leroy Sane to his wishlist and hopes to complete the deals before the transfer window closes.
