Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan scored the fastest goal in FA Cup final history after scoring just 12 seconds into the match at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Treble-chasing City was the clear favourite going into the match at Wembley, but they could not have imagined getting off to such a bad start in the London sun.

The previous record was 25 seconds, which Louis Saha of Everton set in the 2009 final against Chelsea.

Stefan Ortega, the custodian for City, hit a long ball that was deflected and fell at Gundogan’s feet. He smashed the ball home from the edge of the box, leaving De Gea with no chance.

Bruno Fernandes tied the game from the penalty spot for United in the 33rd minute after VAR said that Jack Grealish had handled the ball in the area. The teams went into halftime tied.

City has already won the Premier League, so they want to win the FA Cup and beat Inter Milan in the Champions League final on June 10 to match what United did in 1999.
