Belgium star Eden Hazard was full of praise for the career of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and warned that he is not done just yet.

Hazard turned in a Man of the Match performance, and our Opta-powered match centre agrees, as Belgium set up a last 16 date with Hungary. The win eliminated Sweden and confirmed Ibrahimovic’s retirement from international football.

‘Zlatan Ibrahimovic has done a lot of great things in his career and would have wanted to go further here,’ Hazard told reporters after the match.

‘Our objective was to qualify, but unfortunately he is now eliminated. He will remain a great player and still has a lot to offer at club level.’

Hazard was pleased that his side managed to come through a ‘difficult match’ which was complicated for his defenders.

‘It was a difficult match, complicated for our defenders.

‘In the first half we had some possession and created chances. Nainggolan scored an important goal and from then on we had to manage the game.’

Attention will now turn to Ibrahimovic’s club career after the Swedish talisman confirmed his summer exit from PSG. The former Barcelona forward could yet line up against Hazard in the Premier League with speculation rife that the Swede has already inked a deal with Manchester United.
