Leicester City defender Luis Hernandez says the Foxes are fully focused on their Premier League opener against Hull City on Saturday.

The 27-year-old joined the Premier League champions on a free transfer after his contract at La Liga side Sporting Gijon expired at the end of last season.

Hernandez came on as a second-half substitute during his side’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, reports the Leicester City website.

The Spanish defender says his only focus right now is on taking on the newly promoted side as City look to kick off their title defence with a victory.

‘I think for all players they are happy to play at Wembley,’ Hernandez said.

‘It is a good stadium. It has given us a taste to come here again and win. I am very proud of my team-mates for their performances, but tomorrow is another day and we can put all our efforts now into next Saturday.

Hernandez says he is hoping that his side can have a positive start and do well in their opening fixture.

‘I think it is important that we have the hurt in the next game next Saturday. I think it is important to start the season well after last season. I hope we can play well and get the win.’

Over the course of his career, Hernandez has scored once and assisted a further nine, featuring in 142 appearances in all competitions playing for the likes of Spanish side’s Real Madrid Castilla and Sporting Gijon.

Kick-off has been set for 13:30.
