Higuain seals €90m Juventus move

Juventus have confirmed the signing of striker Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli for €90-million.

The Argentina international has signed a five-year contract with the Serie A champions worth £6.3-million per season and in the process becomes the player with the third highest transfer fee of all-time behind Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Real Madrid forward passed a medical on Friday after Juventus agreed to pay the 28-year-old’s full release clause – a record transfer fee for the Serie A.

Higuain, who has also reportedly attracted interest from Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, joined Napoli from Real Madrid in 2013 and had two years remaining on his contract in Naples.

The Italian champions have secured the services of one of the most prolific and complete forwards in the world game, netting 221 goals and created 82 assists in 427 appearances playing for the likes of Napoli, Real Madrid, and River Plate

With Higuain now following fellow Argentinians Carlos Tevez and Paulo Dybala in donning the black and white jersey, few would write off his chances of lifting his first Serie A title while helping the Old Lady to win a record sixth Scudetto, reports the Juventus website.

The 28-year-old ended the 2015-16 season as the top scorer in Serie A with 36 goals and scored 91 times in 146 appearances for Napoli.

The Argentine becomes manager Massimiliano Allegri’s fifth signing of the summer after securing the services of Miralem Pjanic, Dani Alves, Medhi Benatia and Marko Pjaca.
