Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez will not go on tour to California after he suffered an ankle injury during the Copa America final against Argentina.
The Chilean forward is amongst a number of first-time players at the Gunners who will be left out of the travelling squad for the games against MLS All-Stars and Chivas
‘The players who won’t make it are the players who went very far in the European Championship, such as Ramsey, Ozil, Giroud and Koscielny,’ Wenger told the Arsenal website.
‘I left Gabriel behind today because he has tonsillitis and is infected. He cannot travel.’
The French manager insists that Sanchez suffered a minor injury but will not participate in their pre-season encounters before the starts of the 2016-17 season.
‘Alexis will not go either because he had an ankle injury. That is not too bad but I will leave him behind as well,’ he added.
