Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he was disappointed but remained optimistic following his side’s 1-0 defeat against Feyenoord in the Europa League.
Mourinho side fell to their second defeat in five days following their 2-1 defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Portuguese manager says he is unhappy with the way his side opened their Europa League campaign, but he feels the Red Devils got too comfortable in the match and that when they conceded a goal.
‘Of course, I’m not happy with the start. I think in the second half the game, in my opinion, we were always in control. We were trying to win and they were trying not to lose,’ Mourinho told the Manchester United website.
‘We felt like they were collapsing a bit physically, they were in trouble and it was that moment in which we lost the game. It was double unlucky because it was a clear offside [for Feyenoord’s goal].’
Mourinho revealed that he will not make as many changes to his squad for their Premier League match against Watford as they did for their encounter against Feyenoord.
‘It is obvious that we left players like [Antonio] Valencia and [Luke] Shaw at home to play and to rest so we go back to a normal team without so many changes.’
The match at Vicarage Road kicks off at 13:00.
