Laurent Koscielny scored an injury time winner as Arsenal scraped over the line at Burnley on Sunday.

It look for all money that Arsenal would fail to take advantage of the Manchester City slip up at Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the day as they toiled at Turf Moor against a stubborn Burnley outfit. That all change in time added on when Koscielny broke the deadlock and Burnley hearts in controversial circumstances.

Looking to celebrate manager Arsene Wenger’s 20th anniversary at the London club in style, the Gunners failed to impose themselves with the home side defending well and causing Petr Cech enough problems at the other end.

Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott began the match in fine fashion and the duo combined well before Walcott sprayed his effort across Tom Heaton’s goals.

Burnley’s first chance came from George Boyd in the 15th minute but he failed to get the ball on target.

As the Gunners attacked, Burnley defender Michael Keane enhanced his reputation with some firm defending to keep his side level before Burnley’s Sam Vokes missed his header just before the first half concluded.

Sanchez tested Heaton just after the break before Alex Iwobi and Walcott missed opportunities to open the scoring. Cech kept his clean sheet intact when he dived full length to palm away Johann Berg Gudmudsson’s headed effort.

Keane then failed to take advantage of a good chance when the cross bar denied him in the 75th minute as the match headed towards a draw.

That was until Koscielny scrambled home in the 92nd minute despite calls for the goal to be disallowed for handball.

The win is Arsenal’s fifth in a row in the league, the first time the club has managed the feat since February 2015.
