Liverpool were forced to play out to a goalless draw with fourth division side Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds dominated possession of the ball in the opening exchanges of the match but failed to carve out any clear-cut opportunities in the final third.
Meanwhile, Plymouth sat deep in the own half as they soaked up the pressure from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The first real opportunity of the match came in the 10th minute into the second half when Reds midfielder Lucas forced Plymouth shot-stopper McCormick into a brilliant save from long-range.
Klopp opted to bring on a substitute after the hour mark when he introduced Daniel Sturridge on to replace Can as they went in search of the opening goal.
Sturridge came close to opening the scoring in the 80 minutes but the England striker guided his headed effort over the crossbar from close range.
The Reds pressed for the winning goal in the closing stages but could not manage to break down the Plymouth defence in the final third as they settle for a goalless draw and will now face-off in a replay match.
