Liverpool faced a lively Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday as Roberto Firmino inspired the Reds to a hard-fought comeback victory.

Playing up front, Firmino’s pace, movement and hard running helped the Reds find gaps in the Swansea back line as Liverpool pushed hard to recover after Leory Fer had given the Swans an early lead.

Useful at holding up the play as well as adept at spinning in behind the Swans, Firmino also helped the Reds’ cause with his pressing game.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered matchcentre stats, the forward made 60 touches of the ball in his 85 minutes on the pitch, while he also contributed with three interceptions. Having completed 34 of his 44 attempted passes, the 24-year-old Brazilian also managed three shots over the course of contest, two of which were on target.

Having scored the crucial equaliser for his side when he popped up to header home a cross following a free kick, Firmino was also involved in his side’s late winner. The forward’s agility in the penalty area saw a last ditch challenge bring him down, with James Milner converting the subsequent penalty to ensure the Reds a 2-1 victory.
