Liverpool secured a decisive victory over Hull City in the Premier League on Saturday as James Milner netted twice in a dominant 5-1 win.
The Anfield club were at their frenetic best as they looked to outrun and overpower Hull’s midfield with their dynamic movement.
With Milner pressing upfield whenever possible to provide width and space for his teammates, the English star’s job was made all the easier following the dismissal of Hull’s Ahmed Elmohamady for a deliberate handball.
According to SoccerClub’s Opta-powered match stats, Milner made as many as 109 touches of the ball during his 90 minutes on the pitch while he made light work of Hull’s attacks, contributing two tackles.
Threatening with his ability to get forward and fire dangerous crosses into the area, Milner was also accurate with 68 of his 78 passes.
Milner’s most significant contribution, however, came from the penalty spot. Coming into the game with a 100 percent record for the Reds off penalty kicks, the 30-year-old made no mistake with either of his spot kicks as he secured his first ever brace.
