Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has been nominated for the BBC African Footballer of the Year award for his outstanding performance during the 2015-16 season.

This follows the Algerian international’s continued success for the Foxes by scoring 17 goals last season.

Joining Mahrez on the prestigious five-man shortlist, are Yaya Toure, Andre Ayew, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The City midfielder has been in fine form this season, having already netted four goals and assisted a further three from 16 appearances in all competitions.

After winning the PFA Player of the Year award last season, he was also voted the 7th best player in world football for 2016 by Goal.com.
