Manchester City eased past West Bromwich Albion with their 4-0 victory while Watford beat Hull City at Vicarage Road in the Premier League on Saturday.
A brace by Sergio Aguero inspired Manchester City to a 4-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
In the opening minutes, City pressed forward with Nolito and Aguero giving the West Brom defence no chance to settle down.
However, Aguero broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when the Argentinian striker made a fantastic run through the channel and latched on to a through ball from Ilkay Gundogan, before slotting the ball into the back of the net to beat Baggies goalkeeper Ben Foster and make it 1-0.
Nine minutes later, Aguero completed his brace with a stunning strike to extend his side’s lead by firing into the top corner to make 2-0.
Pep Guardiola’s side went into the half-time with a comfortable lead, while the Baggies failed to deliver.
In the second half, West Brom started off more lively by pressing high in search of a goal.
In the 79th minute, Gundogan made it 3-0 for Man City when he finished coolly to round off an impressive display from City after being set up by Aguero.
However, Gundogan soon completed his brace when he made a run to the near post before getting on the end of a De Bruyne’s cross to slot the ball past Foster in the 90th minute, as City claimed their 4-0 victory over West Brom.
Meanwhile, a late own goal from Hull City defender Michael Dawson handed Watford a 1-0 victory over the Tigers at Vicarage Road.
Just as the match seemed to be heading for a goalless draw, a Daryl Janmaat cross was flicked on by Roberto Pereyra, who’s effort took a deflection off Dawson’s shoulder before ending in the back of the net.
