Premier League action continues this weekend as Manchester United look to build momentum when they take on minnows Burnley at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho’s men will be desperate to claim all three points over their lowly opposition as they have gone three games in succession without a win in the Premier League, a run which included a devastating 4-0 loss at the hands of Chelsea last weekend, leaving the Red Devils languishing in seventh on the table.
Burnley are just four points aback of United on the table with a total of 1o to their name after nine matches played. Presently high on confidence, the side will be looking to produce their second shock in two weeks having handed Everton a surprise defeat last weekend. The Red Devils, however, have rarely been troubled by Burnley in the past and have not suffered a defeat to The Clarets at home since a 5-2 reverse back in 1962.
Mourinho’s men should be relatively fresh for the clash having fielded a weekend side in the EFL Cup on Wednesday. Defender Eric Bailly is a notable absentee having sustained a serious injury last weekend, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s mysterious absence looks set to continue. Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, is likely to remain on the bench.
Burnley, for their part, will welcome back controversial striker Andre Gray following his suspension for a homophobic slur on social media. George Boyd is also set to return having recovered from a knee injury, while Steven Defour is a doubt with a hamstring problem.
Elsewhere, high-flying Arsenal will be looking to make it 14 games unbeaten when they take on bottom club Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Meanwhile, defending champions Leicester City look to revive their fortunes against the formidable Tottenham Hotspur away from home.
Also in action are Premier League leaders Manchester City, who will be looking to put a poor run of recent form behind them when they take on West Bromwich Albion. Finally, Chelsea will face a tricky tie away at St Mary’s as they take on Southampton.
