Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala has completed a move to Spanish side Valencia on loan having passed a medical earlier on Wednesday.
The centre back, once touted as the solution to City’s defensive problems, is not in manager Pep Guardiola’s plans for the season having been left of the side’s Champions League squad.
Though a move back to former club Porto had been in the offing, the £42-million signing has now sealed the deal with Valencia instead. The player made 33 appearances for Manchester City last term.
