Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that midfielder Marouane Fellaini has returned to Manchester United with a calf injury.
The 28-year-old made his 12th appearance of the season following his side’s 3-1 victory over Swansea City in the Premier League at the Liberty Stadium.
The Belgium mentor has since revealed that Fellaini is unable to play a part in his side’s World Cup qualifying match against the Netherlands on Wednesday.
‘Fellaini picked up an injury against Swansea City and will go back to his club,’ Martinez said.
‘We have a core of 24 players which is enough.’
The severity of Fellaini’s injury is yet to be confirmed by the Red Devils medical team and it is yet to be discovered if the midfielder will play a part in United’s Premier League clash against Arsenal.
Kick-off has been set for 14:30.
