Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano has signed a contract extension with the club, keeping him at the Nou Camp until 2019.
The Argentine has extended his current deal by a further year with the club, which was due to end on June 30, 2018, according to the Barcelona website.
Barca’s director of professional sports Albert Soler confirmed the deal during a press conference of Andre Gomes’ presentation.
‘An agreement has been reached and Mascherano will continue at Barcelona for the next three years,’ Soler said.
Mascherano, who became the club’s fourth captain as of last season, will be entering his seventh season with Barca after joining the Spanish giants from Liverpool in 2010. The 32-year-old.
Mascherano has made a total of 282 appearances at Barcelona, picking up 16 titles during his seven-year stint at the Catalan giants.
