Admir Mehmedi was key for his Swiss side as they battled back to draw 1-1 in their Euro 2016 clash with Romania.
Switzerland had started the game strongly, bossing the game in most departments, but then conceded a penalty to Romania on the counter attack.
With Bogdan Stancu burying the effort, the Swiss trailed 1-0 at half time. They trailed despite leading the shot count by 11 strikes to nine, and enjoying 68% of the possession in the first half, according to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match centre.
The leader of the fightback was attacker Admir Mehmedi.
The forward made 53 touches in the match and completed an outstanding 32 of his 33 attempted passes. Most crucially of all, he grabbed the equalising goal for his side, latching onto loose ball following a corner to power the ball home.
Though the sides eventually shared the spoils, the stats showed Switzerland continued to have the best of the possession (67%) at the final whistle, as wells as created the most chances (19 as opposed to 14).
