Argentina manager Gerardo Martino revealed that talisman Lionel Messi will be back in action for La Albiceleste within four days.
The Barcelona faithful missed La Albiceleste opening Copa America victory against Chile on Monday due to a back injury.
Argentina started with in-form striker Gonzalo Higuian, supported Nicolas Gaitan, Ever Banega and Angel di Maria, with the latter two on target to help their side to a 2-1 win over last year’s champions, reports KickOff.
The 53-year-old confirmed that the Barcelona talisman will be available for La Albiceleste within a few days.
‘The expectation is that in four days Messi is in a position to play,’ Martino told reporters.
Martino was more than delighted with his side’s victory over Chile, especially without their key player in the squad.
‘I liked the 90 minutes we played. We deserved to win,’ Martino added.
‘We must continue to overcome any absences in our team. The team knew how to handle different aspects of the game and we were fair winners.’
Messi has made a total of 108 appearances representing his country, since making his senior debut for the Argentine national team back in 2005.
The 28-year-old became La Albiceleste second best all-time top scorer netting 50 goals, six behind Gabriel Batistuta with 56.
