Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has broken yet another La Liga record following his goal for the Catalan club against Deportivo La Coruna this past weekend.
Making his return from injury, Messi netted within three minutes of taking to the field as he latched onto a fine reverse ball from Neymar to blast home from close range.
The goal was Messi’s 180th home league goal in La Liga, surpassing the landmark total of 179 league goals set by Athletic Bilbao legend Telmo Zarra. The feat makes Messi the new all-time top-scorer in home matches in Liga history, reports Goal.
Messi’s long term rival Cristiano Ronaldo is currently fourth on the list with 150 goals to his name, just one goal further aback of Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stefano, who has 151.
Messi is already the leading goal scorer and assist provided in La Liga’s history, meaning his latest record is just another he can add to a long list of achievements.
