Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane has expressed surprise at the level of dominance shown by his side in their latest clash with Zamalek.
Sundowns dismantled their Egyptian foes by a 3-0 scoreline in the opening leg of the Caf Champions League final at the Lucas Moripe Stadium last weekend and have now traveled to Alexandria for the second leg of the contest this Sunday.
‘I did not expect Zamalek to lose 3-0, no way,’ Mosimane told KingFut. ‘Don’t [get] me wrong, I expected my team to win. Maybe score one or two goals but I also expected Zamalek to score, I did not expect to win this way.’
The coach was reluctant to comment on the weaknesses of the opposition side, choosing instead to focus in the club’s rich history.
‘Speaking about weaknesses is never polite, I will only speak about their strengths,’ he stated. ‘It is easy to talk, they have such a great history that I had to Google them!
‘It’s a big team in history created in 1911, they won the title many more times than us, they spent more than us, they have more experience in football,’ he concluded.
Mosimane concluded by paying tribute to some of the prestigious coaches the side have had over the years, including Roberto Cabral and Mahmoud El-Gohary.
The second leg of the sides’ clash will be played at the Borg El Arab Stadium.
Kick-off is at 14:30.
