As current Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce looks poised to become England coach, David Moyes appears set to take over at the Black Cats.

Allardyce’s appointment to the England role looks all but confirmed with talks to finalise the deal set to take place on Thursday.

Sunderland, meanwhile, are believed to be frustrated by the developments, as should Big Sam exit the club would need to bring in a new coach just weeks before the 2016-17 season gets underway.

‘Naturally we are aware of the intense media speculation this evening,’ a statement by the club read. However, at the present time Sam Allardyce remains Sunderland manager.

‘We share in the anger and frustration of our supporters and would like to assure them that we are working to conclude the matter in the best interests of Sunderland AFC.’

Former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes has emerged as the early favourite to replace Allardyce.

The Scot has been out of work since November 2015 when he was sacked by a Liga outfit Real Sociedad following a stale run of results.
