Manuel Neuer showed his class for Germany as they claimed a 6-5 victory over Italy in a penalty shoot-out to book their place in the semi-finals of the Euro 2016 tournament.
With the German side progressing tin the semi-finals to play against either France or Iceland, the Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer produced two match-winning saves, earning him the man-of-the-match award and ultimately guiding his side to victory over the Italians.
The 30-year-old’s distribution between goal was impressive after completing 37 out of 44 passes, with 47.7% coming from the centre and 36.4% coming from down the left.
According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match stats, Manuel Neuer completed a total 54 touches on the ball , while winning one foul for the German side.
The former Schalke 04 shot-stopper went on to make once interception while also winning 100% of his duels.
Between the sticks, Neuer faced a total of three shots on target from the Italian side, while saving two out of three of them and after 120 minutes on the field, the goalkeeper went on to save two penalties to see his side advance into the semi-finals in the Euro 2016 campaign.
Although, both sides were locked in attack with both side’s producing 12 shots each, while Germany controlled the match and had the best possession (61.7%), while the Italian side could only manage 38.3% of possession.
The German side will now take on either France or Iceland in the semi-finals at the Stade Velodrome on Thursday.
