Brazil superstar Neymar netted a landmark 300th career goal on Thursday as his country cruised to a 5-0 demolition of Bolivia in World Cup qualifying.
The Barcelona forward opened the scoring for his side after just 11 minutes of action as he was played in by Gabriel Jesus after a quick counter-attack.
The goal was Neymar’s 49th in his country’s colours, putting him one goal clear Zico’s tally of 48 for the Selecao and assuring his position as Brazil’s fourth highest ever scorer. Only the likes of Romario (55), Ronaldo (62), and the legendary Pele (77) have scored more.
The 24-year-old’s remaining goals came as he hit a combined total of 233 goals between clubs Santos and Barcelona at senior level, while he has also netted 18 competitive goals for his country at junior and youth divisions since turning professional.
The forward has been in fine form for his club this season having hit five goals in just seven appearances thus far.
The star also recently led his country to gold in the Rio Olympics.
