Manchester United target Paul Pogba believes Cristiano Ronaldo is the favourite to claim the Ballon d’Or following his trophies with Real Madrid and Portugal.
Ronaldo was an integral part of the Portugal team that lifted the Euro 2016 trophy, while the superstar forward also hit the winning penalty as Los Blancos overcame rival Atletico Madrid to lift the Champions League title.
A win for Ronaldo would secure him his fourth World’s Best Player gong, which would close the gap on the Portuguese’s rival Lionel Messi, who has five Ballon d’Ors.
‘You have [Lionel] Messi, you have Ronaldo. Honestly, I like them both. [Antoine] Griezmann has had an amazing year,’ Pogba told ESPN.
‘For me, it’s Cristiano Ronaldo [who should win], because he won the Champions League and Euro 2016,’ the Frenchman explained.
Barcelona star Luis Suarez is another of the players likely to challenge near the top of the voting having arguably outshined teammate Messi for Barcelona this term.
Ronaldo, for his part, netted 51 goals in 48 appearances for Real Madrid last term,
