The Paul Pogba saga seemingly drew closer to its eventual climax on Sunday as Manchester United announced the player was set for a medical with the club.
The announced came in the minutes leading up to United’s clash against Leicester City in the Community Shield, a match the Red Devils won 2-1.

‘Paul Pogba has been granted permission to have a medical in order to finalise his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United’, the statement read.
The medical will reportedly take place at the Aon training complex. No other information regarding the transfer was put forward by the club, although the medical appears to apply official confirmation of the deal is forthcoming.
The deal is expected to break Gareth Bale’s record £85-million transfer to Real Madrid.
