Marcus Rashford’s meteoric rise at Manchester United received regional recognition at the 2016 North-West Football Awards on Monday night.
The 19-year-old striker won the Rising Star of the Year award which was voted for by fans, reports the Manchester United website.
The club’s officials collected the trophy on behalf of Rashford, who was unable to attend the ceremony at Lancashire County Cricket Club as he is currently away on international duty with England.
The North-West award is the latest accolade in Rashford’s memorable year, having scored on debut for United and both England U21 and the senior side. He went on to play for the Three Lions at Euro 2016, a month after helping the Reds win the FA Cup – his first major club honour.
England will now take on Spain at Wembley Stadium in an international friendly match on Tuesday, with kick-off set for 10:00.
