Southampton will go into their EFL Cup semi-final second leg with a 1-0 advantage over Liverpool after beating them at St Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday.

The Saints scored the only goal of the match in the 20th minute when Nathan Redmond slotted the ball past Reds shot-stopper Loris Karius after Jay Rodriguez pounced on an error from defender Ragnar Klavan.
