Cristiano Ronaldo, the newly crowned best player in Europe, has responded to comments from Barcelona defender Gerard Pique in typical style.

While Pique’s comments had taken aim at what he called an ‘easy’ run in the Real’s Champions League campaign, Ronaldo was quick to remind the Spaniard that it was his side who had tasted success.

Ronaldo did not directly respond to the jibe but was nevertheless quick to shut it down.

When asked to comment, the Portuguese invited his Barcelona rival to have a look at his ‘very pretty’ tweet. The  tweet in question pictured Ronaldo holding the Uefa Best Player in Europe award.

‘Well, I’m not going to answer,’ he told the El Larguero radio show. ‘What I can say to Pique is that he can see my tweet [with a] very pretty photo

  Ronaldo starred for both Portugal and Real last season in the run up to the award nomination, where he beat of Frenchman Antoine Griezmann and teammate Gareth Bale to lift the gong.
