Manchester City right back Bacary Sagna has been charged for misconduct contrary for a comment posted on social media after his side’s 2-1 victory over Burnley.
The Football Association allege that the defender’s post questioned the integrity of referee Lee Mason after City were reduced to 10 men when Fernandinho was sent off.
‘It is alleged that a comment posted on social media by the Manchester City defender constituted improper conduct in that it questioned the integrity of the match official and/or alleged and/or implied bias on the part of the match official, and/or brought the game into disrepute,’ according to the Manchester City website.
The 33-year-old now has until 18:00 on Friday to respond to the charge against him.
