Two-time defending champions Spain take on 2012 finalists Italy in a last 16 clash in Euro 2016 on Monday as the European giants take aim at the quarter-finals.
The sides have a tightly contested head-to-head record, with Spain edging the Italians by 11 wins to eight. Spain also have the psychological edge of having thrashed the Italians 4-0 in the final four years ago.
Spain will be at full strength for the tie, but centre back Sergio Ramos will need to be weary of picking up a yellow, as it would rule him out of a quater-final matchup with Germany. Italy, meanwhile, have no less than 10 players a caution away from suspension, while Antonio Candreva is doubtful for the tie following a hamstring injury.
Spain advanced to last 16 following a runners-up finish in Group D with two wins from three games, while Italy edged first place in Group E despite finishing level on points with Belgium.
Said Antonio Conte, Italy coach: ‘We have a great deal of respect for Spain: they are one of the best teams in the world and among the favourites to win Uefa Euro 2016. Even so, we’ve worked and prepared, and it’s a last 16 game which will have no tomorrow for one of us. We must not have any regrets.’
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque added: ‘I think we’ve got a good idea about how we want to play in relation to the players we’ve called up, and now it’s about putting it into practice.’
The match will be played Stade de France, Paris.
Kick-off is at 18:00.
