Tottenham Hotspur have made a £16-million deadline day bid for Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko.
With Spurs having sold midfielder Ryan Mason to Hull City for a fee of £13-million yesterday, the club have looked to restock their midfield with the addition of the powerful Frenchman, reports Sky Sports.
Despite patchy form for the uninspired Toons in the Premier League last season – which culminated in the relegation of the side – Sissoko enjoyed a superb Euro 2016 with France, where his pace and dynamism caught the eye in France’s impressive run to the final.
While Spurs have only offered £16-million, it is expected that Newcastle value the player closer to the £30-million mark, though the club may be tempted to reach a compromise over the fee given the substantial dip in income the club is likely to face plying their trade in the Championship.
Sissoko featured 39 times for Newcastle last season scoring once and assisting a further eight.
