Tottenham Hotspur have began negotiations with French outfit Lyon in the hopes of a securing a move for their striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Lacazette, who was runner-up in Ligue 1’s scoring charts this term with 21 goals from 34 appearances, his been touted as an excellent attacking option. Should Spurs get their man, his signing would go a long way to lessening the goalscoring burden on Harry Kane.

With West Ham United having already had a £20-million offer for the 24-year-old rebuffed, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen on completing a deal for the player.

Lyon are believed to be demanding a fee of £30-million for their star while Spurs are thought to be offering around £25-million for the player’s services, reports the Daily Mail.

Nevertheless, a deal is believed to be in the works, with all parties said to be eager to tie-up the agreement by the end of June.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas seemed to suggest as much when he said last month: ‘If on 28th August, we are offered €80m for Alexandre Lacazette, he will not leave.

‘However, if he comes to me in the days to come, because he has an offer he cannot refuse, it’s possible.

‘Finally, if there must be departures, they will be before June 30. There will be none after, except for minor players.’
