Tottenham Hotspur were back to their fast-flowing attacking best as they breezed past Swansea City at White Hart Lane.
Spurs got off the mark in the 39th minute with a stroke of luck following the softest of fouls on Dele Alli. The English midfielder left his leg out and took some contact.
Harry Kane stepped up and buried the spot kick to hand his side the lead before a wonderful second from Heung-Min Son at the end of the first half. Son took advantage of a deflected shot by Christian Eriksen as he acrobaticalscissor-kicked the ball into the back of the net from some distance.
There was no coming back into the contest for Bob Bradley’s side as Spurs added further misery to their day in the second half.
Kane added his second after latching onto a ball from Son before Eriksen bundled the ball over the line following a defensive horror show from Swansea. The traffic continued in the direction of Lukasz Fabianski’s goal but Spurs failed to convert a number of good chances before Eriksen grabbed a second to make the final scoreline 5-0.
Elsewhere, Leicester City were shocked 2-1 by struggling Sunderland. The Black Cats scored a goal in either half, including another strike for Jermaine Defoe, to seal the contest before an Okazaki consolation strike as the champions continue their struggles on the domestic front. Sunderland on the other hand, have moved to 18th and two points clear of Swansea.
Stoke City saw off Burnley 2-0 at the Bet365 Stadium as goals from former Barcelona player Marc Muniesa, his first senior goal for any club, and Jonathan Walters earned the Potters three vital points.
Crystal Palace scored two first half goals, including the opener following a howler from Fraser Forster who miskicked and left Christian Benteke with the easiest goal he will ever score, to help Alan Pardew to a much-needed win and three of the most valuable points of his season so far. Benteke tapped home late on to add further gloss to the result.
At The Hawthorns, West Brom continued their good run of late with a 3-1 win over Watford.
