Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Turkish attacking midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
Spurs are looking for another creative player and the 22-year-old Turkey international fits that profile, however, it is understood he is one of a number of player Spurs are looking at in that position, according to SkySports.
Calhanoglu’s agent Bektas Demirtas has confirmed to Spurs interest in the Turkish midfielder.
‘It is true that Tottenham have registered their interest with me,’ Demirtas said.
Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt does not see Calhanoglu as a first team starter and will listen to offers for the player.
Meanwhile, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino revealed that he would like to bring in three new players before the transfer deadline.
Spurs are currently trying to lure Marseille winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou to the club, while they have also shown interest in signing young goalkeeper Pau Lopez from Espanyol.
A number of players are expected to leave the club before the deadline, including the likes of Ryan Mason, DeAndre Yedlin, Nabil Bentaleb, Nacer Chadli and Tom Carroll are also surplus to Pochettino’s plans.
Tottenham Hotspurs will now welcome Liverpool to White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Saturday.
Kick-off has been set for 13:30.
