Manchester United were left frustrated after being held to a 1-1 by Stoke City in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils started the first half off brightly and should’ve taken the lead a number of times but Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba could not capitalise on their opportunities.
United were dominating the match but could not find the opening goal as Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant kept on denying the home side.
Meanwhile, Stoke were on the back foot for most of the half and could only register three efforts on target but could not curve out any clear cut chances to trouble United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Heading into the half-time interval the score remained goalless.
With United struggling to break down the Stoke defence in the second half, Mourinho opted to bring on captain Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial in the 65th minute in the hopes of breaking the deadlock.
However, the substituted did pay off as Geoff Cameron deflected Rooney’s ball into the path of Martial, who curled the ball into the top corner to give United a 1-0 lead over the visitors.
In the 81st minute, Stoke managed to levelled matters when Joe Allan slotted home into an empty after Jonathan Walters hit the upright, following an error by the United shot-stopper.
The Red Devils pushed for a winner in the closing stages and Pogba came the closest to handing his side the lead by hitting the crossbar from six-yards out as the score remained 1-1 after the final whistle.
