Manchester City defender John Stones believes his side deserved a positive result against Chelsea following their 3-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s side took the lead in the first half courtesy of a Gary Cahill own-goal before the Blues hit back with goals from Diego Costa, Willian, and Eden Hazard.
The 22-year-old believes his side should’ve won the match against the Blues following their performance throughout the match.
‘There is quite a sour feeling running through everyone’s mind,’ Stone told the Manchester City website.
‘It is a difficult one to take in the end.
‘The scoreline didn’t reflect the way we played. In my opinion, we should have won 3-1 – but that’s football.’
The England defender says he is taking positives away after his side produced many chances in attack but were unable to convert it but he admits that the Blues were clinical on the day.
‘From how we played, there are positives to take – playing out from the back, creating chances,’ he added.
‘If we had taken the chances at the start of the second half, it would have been a different story. It is a strange feeling for everyone.
‘Chelsea were clinical.’
Manchester City will now turn their attention to the Champions League when they welcome Celtic to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
Kick-off has been set for 21:45.
