Everton has completed the signing of goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg on a three-year deal from Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

The 53-year-old manager has made the Dutch shot-stopper his first signing since joining the Toffees as manager.

The Dutchman moved to Goodison Park on a three-year contract after an undisclosed fee was agreed with Fulham, reports the Everton website.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper insisted that Koeman wasted no time in convincing him to move to Everton.

‘I’m very happy – things have moved very fast over the last couple days,’ Stekelenburg said.

‘He [Koeman] has come to Everton and he called me a few days after asking if I was willing to follow him. It wasn’t difficult to make that choice.

‘He’s one of the best coaches – he’s straight talking, he’s fair and he has confidence in me which counts as well,’ he added.

The former Southampton manager insists that Stekelenburg will not find it hard to fit into his new team having worked with the manager on three different occasions before.

‘Obviously, I know Maarten well having worked with him at two clubs before,’ Koeman said.

‘I know through his professionalism, hardworking approach, and personality he will fit in well with what I will be building at Everton,’ he added.

Stekelenburg played in a total of 25 games during his season-long loan spell with the Saints, prior to making his move to Goodison Park.

The Dutch goalkeeper has made 54 appearances for the Netherlands and also appeared in the 2010 World Cup final against Spain.
