England and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has been named on a 16-person shortlist for the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award for 2016.
The 29-year-old lifted the Premier League cup with the Foxes last season and has now helped his side to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The England international finished the 2015-16 season with 24 goals in the Premier League and was named Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association.
In a public vote, Vardy will go head to head with 15 other British sportspeople to determine the BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2016.
The awards ceremony will be hosted by former Leicester City striker Gary Lineker, Clare Balding and Gabby Logan from Birmingham’s Genting Arena on 18 December.
