Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy admits that his side put in a great team performance following their 4-2 victory over Manchester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The English striker showed glimpses of his form he produced last season after he scored a hat-trick against Pep Guardiola’s side.

The 29-year-old believes his side showed a real team performance while also admitting that he was delighted to have scored his first hat-trick this season.

‘Overall it’s been a great day. First and foremost, we just wanted to make sure we were fighting and showed the spirt we shown for the most of last season,’ Vardy told the Leicester City website.

‘I thought we did that in the performance, you’ve definitely seen that. Going forward we need to do exactly what we’ve done today.

‘At the end of the day, I want the team to do well. The goals and everything come second so today, overall, it was a great team performance and for me to get a hat-trick is great.’

Leicester City will now travel to the Vitality Stadium when they take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on Tuesday.

Kick-off has been set for 21:45.
