France forward Antoine Griezmann insists his side ‘could now dream of the finals’ following their 2-0 victory over Germany in the Euro 2016 semi-finals in Marseille.
The 25-year-old scored twice as France beat Germany to set up a Euro 2016 final with Portugal in Paris on Sunday, reports Uefa website.
The Atletico forward says his side can now start dreaming of the finals but insists that France has to stay grounded.
‘We’re very happy. We can start dreaming of 10 July. We have to keep our feet on the ground, there’s still a match to go. We’re going to enjoy tonight but tomorrow we’ll prepare for the final,’ Griezmann said.
Griezmann remained humble insisting that both of his goals against the German side was a team effort.
‘I really wanted to take a penalty in another important match. I’m pleased to have taken that decision and to have scored. For the second goal, I was just lurking to see if there was a mistake from the goalkeeper, it dropped to my feet and I was delighted. It was a team effort from everyone at Clairefontaine – I’m delighted for them all, he added.
The former Real Sociedad forward revealed that he is relishing the chance to clinch the trophy as the host of the tournament.
‘I hope we’ll lift the trophy, but for now let’s enjoy tonight. We’re thrilled, we feel like kids. We know the whole country is behind us, so we’re giving everything for them,’ Griezmann concluded.
Last season, the French forward helped Atletico to a third place finish in the La Liga and also the Champions League finals, making 54 appearances while scoring 32 times and creating seven assists in all competitions.
