Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that his side needs to show more consistency following their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

Despite taking the lead through Kevin Wimmer’s own goal, the Gunners had to settle for a point in the first North London derby of the season.

The 67-year-old was disappointed with Arsenal’s failure to convert their chances, and insists they lacked creativity and technical quality in the final third.

‘I felt it was a bit down to nervousness at the back too. Sometimes we have room to play more. [Sacrificing fluency is] certainly a price we pay to play in the derby,’ Wenger told the Arsenal website.

‘Spurs defended well but we lacked a bit of creativity and technical quality in the final third to be a real danger.’

Wenger rued the fact that the Gunners could not collect maximum points and stressed that his side have to be more consistent.

‘We are disappointed because we didn’t win, but overall we are in a strong position,’ he added.

‘It’s what we make of it now and how consistent we will be. We have been very consistent until now, so even if we are frustrated now, let’s try to transform that into positive energy when the Premier League restarts.’

Arsenal will next go head to head with Manchester United at Old Trafford on 19 November, with kick-off set at 14:30.
