Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says it’s rare to find a ‘young and promising’ defender like Rob Holding in modern football.
The England U21 defender became the Gunners third signing of the summer when he joined from Bolton Wanderers, reports the Arsenal website.
Wenger admits that he could not turn down the opportunity to sign such an exciting young defender.
‘[We chose to take him from Bolton] because of his quality,’ Wenger said.
‘He’s a young, promising centre back. You don’t find centre backs that often and we can educate them when they’re at that age. We can give them all the ingredients we think are important.
The 66-year-old Frenchman went on to say that Bielik is also developing from a central defender into a central midfield, stating that it is hard to find players for that position in this day and age.
‘Krystian Bielik is developing well now and he can also be used as a central midfielder, so overall it’s an opportunity I wanted to take because that’s a difficult position to find nowadays,’ he added.
