Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels that he has ‘a more generous and less egotistical attitude’ now and is more focused on helping players bring out their true potential.
In his time at Arsenal, the Frenchman has been named Premier League Manager of the Season three times, and LMA Manager of the Year twice, also winning 15 Manager of the Month awards, reports the Arsenal website.
Wenger believes that getting the full potential out of his players and achieving success is the most important aspect of his coaching beliefs.
‘I think I have a more generous and less egotistical attitude now than I was when I was [younger],’ Wenger said.
‘Back then I wanted myself to be THE coach, THE guy who is successful.
‘Today of course I still want to be successful, but more for others, more to give the people who love Arsenal what they like, success. I want to help the players achieve the best of what they can in their career.’
The 66-year-old manager went on to mention that his the type of coach that pushing and motivates players to fulfil their true potential because he believes that is where respect comes from.
‘At the end of the day we are not responsible for the talent we each have, but we are responsible for what we do with our talent, added.
‘I would like to think that I am the guy today who helps the players to achieve all that they can achieve – to fulfil their potential. That’s where the real respect comes from – when you feel people have fulfilled their potential.’
This season Wenger has guided his side to a second place finish on the Premier League table and qualified for next seasons edition of the Champions League.
